Department for Special materials and supplies purpose was established on the basis of the decision of the Scientific Council of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) on November 27, 2021 with the aim of training highly qualified engineers for military purposes within the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology. Preparation of bachelor, master and doctoral students is carried out on the base of "Military composition materials engineering" and "Pyrotechnic and explosive engineering" specialties approved by the State standard and program of the higher education and the curriculum approved by the Scientific Council of AzTU.
The types of classes at the department include lectures, seminars, theoretical and practical laboratory exercises, free work, scientific research, etc. Classes are held both at the University and in the teaching laboratories and specialized lecture rooms of the institutions of Ministry of Defense Industry according to the concluded Memorandum of Understanding.
Teaching and learning process at the department is carried out based on the principle of University-Industry cooperation.
