Head of department Vagif Hajan oglu Hasanov was born on July 9, 1964 in the village of Kirovkend (Hasansu) of the Gazakh (Aghstafa) region and studied at Kirovkend secondary school in 1971-1981. In 1981, he entered the Faculty of Mechanics of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute and graduated in 1986. V.H. Hasanov was sent to the "Baku Aggregate Production Union" as a young specialist and in 1990 began his labor activity as a laboratory assistant in the "Heat and Refrigeration Engineering" department of AzTU. In 1992, he became a dissertation candidate in the specialty 05.14.05-Theoretical foundations of thermal engineering at the Department of "Heat and Refrigeration Engineering" of the Azerbaijan Technical University, and in 1994, he successfully defended his dissertation on the topic "Density of binary mixtures of higher hydrocarbons in different state parameters" and was awarded the scientific degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. Since September 1994, he has been an assistant at the Department of Heat and Refrigeration Engineering, since 2005 he has been elected to the position of full-time associate professor through a competition, and from 2013 to 2019 he worked as a professor. In 2006-2007, he was awarded the diploma of the "Who's Who" publishing house in the USA in science and engineering. In 2008, V.H. Hasanov received the scientific title of Associate Professor at the Department of Heat and Cold by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2013, V.H. Hasanov defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic of thermodynamic properties of solutions of organic compounds (hydrocarbons and alcohols) at high state parameters in the specialty 3343.01-"Theoretical foundations of heat engineering" at the Dissertation Council D.02.031 under AzTU and on July 11, 2014, he received the scientific degree of Doctor of Science in Engineering by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On May 31, 2019, V.H. Hasanov received the scientific title of Professor at the Department of Heat Power Engineering by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He is the author of more than 250 scientific and educational-methodological works, including 3 inventions, 2 monographs (1 of which was published by AV Akademikerverlag Gmbh & Co. KG / LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing in Saarbrücken, Germany), 7 textbooks, 5 teaching aids, 3 methodological instructions, 1 methodological aid and 21 subject programs. 52 of his scientific works have been published in leading technical journals and collections of the USA, Germany, France, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He has spoken at various international, as well as republican scientific-technical and methodological conferences. 1 doctoral student has defended his PhD thesis in technology. V.H. Hasanov worked as the head of the Department of Applied Mechanics of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy in 2019-2025. V.H. Hasanov, until he was elected as the head of the department of “Applied Mechanics” of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy, gave lectures at the Department of Thermal Power Engineering of AzTU, conducted laboratory and training classes, supervised course projects and final works, teaching and production experiments. He was the responsible participant of the state-funded scientific and technical work of the department. V.H. Hasanov conducted scientific research and participated in scientific exchanges at the Department of Thermodynamics of the Hamburg Technical University of the Federal Republic of Germany (3 months 15.08.2006-15.11.2006) and the Department of Thermodynamics of the University of Rostock (2 times, 3 months 30.06.2009-30.09.2009, 30.06.2012-30.09.2012) through DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). V.H. Hasanov worked as the Deputy Dean for Educational Affairs of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering in 2009-2010, was a member of the scientific seminar of the D02.31 Dissertation Council under AzTU in 2014-2018, and was a member of the D.02.31 Dissertation Council operating under AzTU and awarding scientific degrees (Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science) in 2017-2018. V.H. Hasanov has been a member of the ED 2.02 Dissertation Council operating under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University since 2023. V.H. Hasanov has been a member of the Expert Council for the Technical Sciences Section of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2019. During his time at AzTU, V.H. Hasanov also actively participated in the public affairs of the university, faculty and department. V.H. Hasanov was elected head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Green Energy Technologies in 2025. He is married and has 2 children.
