General objective: The main objective of the project is to establish the Rectors Conference in order to generalize and sharing positive experience in development of the educational institutions, higher and post-higher education, increase and retrain the qualifications of scientific-pedagogical and other staffs, teaching process and scientific work, improvement of the education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as coordinate the activities on the strengthening the influence of the higher education institutions on socio-economic and cultural development and the social protection of the collective members of educational institutions with the direct participation of the Ministry of Science and Education.

Project’s mission:
  • To promote scientific, educational, cultural and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan Higher Education Institutions and assist to dialogue with other national and international organizations.
  • Development of principles and standards in the higher education system. To provide intensive meetings and dialogues between state bodies, educational institutions and the business world in order to support the equal implementation of the Education Law, Education Standard, Education Strategies adopted in the all universities of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
  • Support the establishment of a National Education network.
  • Support the balanced development of the higher education system, which consists of all types of higher education institutions.
  • To formulate and present opinions on the issues important for the development of science, culture and education of Azerbaijan.

 
Tasks implemented by AzTU:
  • The European experience of the Rectors' Conference, including the experience of Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, was studied and the best practices of their role, duties, financing mechanisms, activities, legal establishment, reputation and etc. in higher education were studied.
  • The internal management structure and regulations of the Rectors' Conference have been developed.
  • The Committees of the Rectors' Conference have been organized, and their board and member staff have been determined and the start of their action has been arranged.
  • Trainings were held in order to organize the work of separate committees of the Rectors' Conference and European experience was studied in this field.
  • Within the framework of the project, a series of trainings were organized on the leading topics on the agenda in Higher Education: Certified trainings were held on Change Management - Transformational Learning and Teaching; Fundamentals of Leadership and Human Resource Management.
  • Trainings were conducted in order to support the activities of the elected leaders of the committees.
